Thanks to all of the friends and fans who braved the at-times tempestuous weather conditions this weekend to catch the fifth annual Lyndzapalooza.
Gina and Peter rocked out as Arcati Crisis in the penultimate spot on the bill, where they unleashed the following set: Standing, Noncommittal, Pocahontas (Neil Young), Under My Skin, Fisher Price, Counts the Most, and Galileo (Indigo Girls).
Arcati Crisis is taking a brief breather while they plot their next move, but you can catch Peter this Friday at The Rotunda for Melange Theatre Live. Word has it he'll be debuting a completely new tune!

3.15.2007 - Arcati Crisis Confirmed for Lyndzapalooza V: Evolve
|
We're happy to announce the previously top-secret debut gig for the new and improved permanent Arcati Crisis: this year's fifth annual Lyndzapalooza music festival on Saturday, May 19th, in Yardley, PA.
For those not in the know, Lyndzapalooza started out in 2002 as a backyard party to showcase the musical talents of a group of Drexel-based friends. Peter and Ms. Arcati herself, Gina Martinelli, were both solo performers at the first event, and have returned year after year as it grew into a full-fledged DIY music festival. In fact, Peter has acted as the sound designer for each year of the event.
Arcati Crisis will be sharing the bill with Motevad, Dreams Divide, Remixed, Andrea Nardello, and Mutlu, but those are only a handful of the 20+ acts confirmed to perform.
Sound interesting? Visit the 'Palooza Myspace for more details!

1.17.2007 - Arcati Crisis: Back In Action!
|
We are almost too excited to type this message!
Arcati Crisis, Peter's collaborative project with best friend and co-writer Gina Martinelli, is now officially a full-time duo! After heading into a month of rehearsals for their annual appearance at the Shubin Holiday Revue Peter and Gina decided a more permanent joining of forces was in order.
Early rehearsals have included favorites like "Under My Skin" and Gina's "Fisher Price," but the pair are also working on new originals and covers.
We have an inkling of when/where they'll make their official debut, but at the moment we are sworn to secrecy. More news as it breaks!

It's also the season for the Shubin Theatre Holiday Revue! Peter will be making his fourth consecutive appearance on stage along with co-writer Gina Martinelli on Saturday, 12/16. Attendance is by invitation only; please contact us if you'd like to stop by.
Please check back soon for the debut of newly recorded demos of both originals and covers!

11.02.2006 - New Demo! - Seams
|
Says Peter: "Seams" was written early in 2002, though it took a long time before it felt solidified enough to perform or record.
"Seams" made its first recorded appearance in the 2002 Blogathon, and closed the 2003 Blogathon. I've only ever played it live once that I recall - at the 2005 Shubin Theatre Holiday Revue, accompanied by Elise on Clarinet.
I never felt either of the recordings did it justice, but tonight's live guitar/vox demo is very close to my ideal version of the song.

9.09.2006 - New Songs!
8.08.2006 - Multu (and Dante) featured on Rolling Stone dot com!
|
Lest we be accused that our sole topic is Peter, we're here with a bulletin about Philly-based singer/songwriter Mutlu.
Mutlu plays a funky acoustic blend of tunes that are highlighted by deft lyrics, a subtle jazz/folk guitar style, and truly one of the smoothest voices to be found in Philly. He's been a friend of friends ever since he was a member of Eight to the Bar. We recently took in his spectacular set at The Tin Angel and, of course, we've enjoyed four years of his Lyndzapalooza performances.
Mutlu is currently backed on percussion by none other than Dante Bucci. You may know Dante as the host of the past three Lyndzapalooza festivals, or as Peter's occasional collaborator and drummer on "Icy Cold."
Well, we're thrilled to report that Multu (and Dante) are currently featured in streaming video on Rolling Stone's website, courtesy of Blue Note Records! If you only have time for one tune we recommend "I'm Telling You," which gets stuck in our heads much too often to disclose.
We're psyched to see such a fantastic singer get the attention he deserves! If you haven't had the chance to see Multu before, please check him out on RS.com.

8.07.2006 - Cars, Cafes, and that ubiquitous Space
|
Thank you to everyone who has listened to or shared a stage with Peter in the last two days!
Sunday night was a raucously fun outing at The Sidecar Bar and Grille's once-monthly open mic night. Peter brought out originals "Little Love" and "Standing," plus a re-worked cover of "Like a Virgin" and an awesome last-minute version of "Stop! In the Name of Love." Sidecar's open mic is the first Sunday of every month.
Monday marked Peter's debut at World Cafe Live's weekly open mic, Philly Rising. He chose "Little Love" to launch what will hopefully be a series of appearances at the venue, which was packed with talented local folks. Special thanks to Philly Rising's Virago for being so darn friendly (and inspiringly excellent). More links to fellow Philly Rising stars to come later this week, once we've sorted out our notes. (Lou, we didn't forget you, we just forgot the pad where we wrote you band's address :)
For those of you aspiring to play Philly Rising, please note that sign-ups start close to 5pm, and performances run through midnight.
Also, lest we be left in the virtual dust, please feel free to stalk Peter on MySpace.

7.03.2006 - Waking Up After a Ride at the Sidecar
|
Last night marked Peter's first performance at a bar since 2001's memorable slot opening for Justin MacNair at Buffalo Bills.
This re-debut was staged at Philly's Sidecar bar, where Peter helped to inaugurate a new monthly open mic night with David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust," his own "Bucket Seat," and Madonna's "Hung Up."
Catch Peter, as well as the Sidecar Allstar Band and various other performers, on the first Sunday of every month at 9pm.

6.27.2006 - Peter Puts Progeny On Hold
|
Just a note to inform you that Peter is currently on hiatus from Progeny a cappella. After a rewarding six months of rehearsals and a successful series of performances featuring two of his arrangements ("Oh! Darling" and "Hook") Peter is redirecting his energies back towards the development of his own music.
Progeny will continue its progress with the addition of new songs and singers over the summer - please keep your ear out for more news on this unique Philly group, of whom we continue to be fans and friends. Stay tuned!

5.21.2006 - Peter's Awesome Weekend
|
Peter had quite the whirlwind weekend!
On Saturday he designed and mixed the sound the fourth annual Lyndzapalooza, with assists from good friends Jake and Jack. Additionally, he had the opportunity to accompany the awesome talents of many of his friends, including Jake Wilkins, Amanda Hunt, Megan Ace-Emery, and birthday girl Lindsay Sciandra. And, finally, he delivered a solo set that debuted a new tune ("Standing") while covering Madonna, Third Eye Blind, and Kelly Clarkson.
On top of all of those duties, Peter made his formal debut(s) singing with Progeny a cappella - first at Lyndzapalooza, and then as the incredibly well-received openers for the Drexel Treblemakers' spring concert.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to Peter's busy weekend, including all of his various audiences. Ears are always appreciated!

4.11.2006 - Lyndzapalooza IV: Direct Feed
|
We are thrilled to announce that Peter will be both a featured performer and the sound designer for the fourth year of the annual Lyndzapalooza music festival!
Lyndzapalooza IV: Direct Feed will feature an impressive lineup of local performers, including Dominic Commella, J.I.Z., Andrea Nardello, Craig Schwartz, The Treblemakers, and the stage debut of Peter's a cappella group Progeny! Peter has some special plans in store for his set, and will also be putting in a guest appearance with Progeny's Jake Wilkins at his L-Palooza debut.
We'd love to see you there on May 20th; please contact Peter, planner Lindsay Sciandra, or host Dante Bucci for details.

4.05.2006 - Peter Helps Give Birth To Progeny
|
A quick note from Peter:
Hello to all of my awesome fans and readers! I'm proud to announce that our newly formed adult a cappella group has finally found a suitable name - Progeny! It seems apropos, since the group emerged not only from Drexel's two groups but also from the long-standing friendships of all of the members.
So far we are learning four arrangements, including two by me (originally by The Beatles & Blues Traveler) and two excellent songs from Elise (by 10,000 Maniacs and Plumb).
You'll get your first chance to hear us perform them for the first time at the Drexel Treblemakers' Annual Concert on Sunday, May 21st - time TBA.
(Actually, you might be able to hear us before then - stay tuned for news on that!)

1.12.2006 - Peter Performs Adult a Cappella
|
Peter has joined forces with Philadelphia's newest and yet-unnamed mix gender acappella group! Featuring former members of The Treblemakers and 8 to the Bar - including Peter's frequent collaborators Elise Wei and Lindsay Sciandra - the group is currently working on original arrangements to be debuted in performance later this spring.
Stay tuned for more details, including repetoire and a group name.

12.10.2005 - Another Year, Another X-Mas Revue
|
Peter is excited to be invited to appear at the Annual Shubin Theatre Holiday Revue for the third year running, and for the first time as a Theatre alum after performing in the sold out run of Happy Birthday, Wanda June.
Peter will be performing an original song for the first time at a X-Mas Revue, accompanied by Elise Wei on clarinet.
The performance is on the evening of Saturday December 17th, and will also feature performances by longtime collaborator Gina Martinelli, theatre-owner Denise Shubin's flameno group, and dozens of other local thespians, musicians, dancers, and magicians.
|
8.14.2005 - Peter Sells Out & Old New Audio
|
Thanks to everyone who was a part of the sold-out run of Happy Birthday, Wanda June last weekend! So many theatre-goers came out for the show that overflow seating was added for every performance - there were as many audience members as the fire code would allow! Peter especially thanks Wes Fenza and Gina Martinelli for producing the show, and Kristin Spagnolo for her excellent direction.
Now that his show is over Peter has been rehearsing every day until his fingers get too sore (and when you've been playing guitar for close to a decade that takes a good long while). We have no new audio from his current rehearsals, but the Music section has been updated with all of Peter's 2003-2004 demos, including originals, covers, and a trio of Arcati Crisis tunes.
